Club and Board news for this month include the following items:
The Samford Show Bar 2025 produced a profit of AUD $ 9,166 - congratulations to all RCSV members who worked the Show Bar;
A Club Action Plan for 2025 / 2026 is in progress and will be circulated when available;
Both the RCSV Website and Facebook sites are going to be updated;
Club Runner has now been updated to the Nova Operating System and further works on our CR site are being organized in order to maximize the use of this software;
Our D9620 District Govenor visited the Club on Tue 23 Sep 2025 to understand how we are progressing and discuss where the DG can with assist our Club development;
RCSV Village Pump articles are being generated each month - very many thanks to Carol Robinson and Bob Millar for creating and editing this copy.
The following Community Service activities have been initiated / delivered this month:
The Samford Rail Trail Shelter open morning attracted a good number of RCSV members and interested parties. Morning tea was also enjoyed following the shelter opening - many thanks for organizing ladies;
Further Rail Trail work in the form of a park bench located at the top of the hill along the trail, is also in progress;
Bi-monthly bush-care restoration works continue at the Rotary Undambi Reserve;
A Pride of Workmanship award was presented to Cliff Holden recently, who very professionally runs the Long Yard Larder Cafe in Samford;
Samford Playgroup is being financially supported by the RCSV in the form of refurbishment of their children's playground Fort;
A visit to Samford Riding for the Disabled will be organised in the near future, in order to meet our horse Peter Pan and take morning tea;
A Classic Car Show with about 400 cars was organized for 05 Oct 2025 at the Samford Showgrounds and we delivered our BBQ services.

Earlyact and Interact News
Earlyact activities that have been delivered this month are as follows:
Samford State School (SSS) held a BBQ on the morning of Thurs 04 Sep 2025, in order to welcome new families to the school via a Legends and Lads morning. The RCSV ran the BBQ and assisted with brekkie distribution;
A donation of AUD $ 5, 000 was made by the RCSV to support the Guide Dogs QLD Court Dog initiative for the Family Court and a presentation was made to the Guide Dogs QLD by Rob Robinson at a recent School Assembly. A Puppy Playdate and Visit to Guide Dogs QLD was also raffled. This raffle, coupled with a student Free Dress Day and Market Stall raised AUD $ 1, 388.40 for this cause.
Activities conducted by the Interact Club include:
An Interact Award Ceremony was recently conducted at Ferny Grove State High School (FGSHS) in order to provide certificates to the outgoing Committee and welcome / award badges to the new 2025 / 2026 Committee;
In order to support the Red Bench Foundation (focuses on the promotion of awareness of Domestic Violence) the school delivered a Trivia Night;
Two Year 10 students will be sponsored by the RCSV to attend the annual Science Experience;
Over 100 FGSHS students engaged in a Ping Pong a-thon and raised AUD $ 4, 500 to assist vulnerable people around the world. The RCSV provided the food for this event;
Members of FGSHS have attended the recent Interact Conference 2025 and will report back on the proceedings of this weekend in the near future.

International News
The following RCSV International activities have been initiated / delivered this month:
A total of 100 double / triple desks have been delivered to four schools across PNG - Pari Primary School, Baruni Primary School, Boregania Junior High and Lese Oalai Primary School. This delivery completes both Phase I and II of the RCSV PNG School Desk Project;
A draft International Service Program for 2025 / 2026 has been developed by Ian Spillar and accepted by the Board to include financial donations to ShelterBox, Polio Plus and Wheelchairs for Kids. A water filtration Project in Myanmar via the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) institute has also been proposed;
In response to the recent presentation by Tino Babao the Board has agreed to support the publishing work conducted by Food Plant Solutions as promoted by the Rotary Action Group.

This Month's Speaker Details
Mohammad Tamim Ibrahimi – Peace Fellow14th Oct
Tamim is a young global peace practitioner and a current Rotary Peace Fellow at the University of Queensland with over eleven years of experience in the field of peacebuilding, conflict resolution and Trauma awareness. He has a master’s in Applied Conflict Transformation Studies from Pannasastra University of Cambodia and has managed different projects including peacebuilding, Life Skills, Relief, and Positive Parenting projects.
Tamim worked for the International Assistance Mission (IAM) in Afghanistan and led IAM’s peacebuilding project outreach to mainstream peacebuilding concepts into IAM’s many projects and programs throughout six provinces and regions across Afghanistan, including: Community Development Projects, Mental Health Program, Noor Hospitals, Management School, Female Teacher Education Program (FTEP), and Ophthalmic Technicians Training Program (OTTP). Since 2018, a large part of Tamim’s focus has been on integration of peace education in the public sphere in Afghanistan, where the aim was to mainstream peacebuilding training at schools and universities, beginning in Kabul.
