This was another Rotary event in Samford that was a great success - the event was sold out in less than 3 weeks! "MUSIC BY THE LAKE 2006" (GPS position: 27°22′39.42″ S - 152°51′39.14″ E) Naming Sponsor 2007: Oxmar Properties call Justin Murphy 0438 099 999 ACT ONE 6.30pm to 8.30pm Adrian Ross Adrian Ross is Australia’s ”Premier Indigenous Didgeridoo Performer", his mixture of traditional Australian indigenous music along with the contemporary feel of rhythm & dance is wooing crowds all over the world.
Developing Artists from Opera Queensland Developing Artists from Opera Queensland are offered opportunities to perform in concerts, recitals and other public events, thereby increasing their repertoire and professional profile. The 2006 Developing Artists are: Sara Carvalho (mezzo-soprano), Kylie Los (repetiteur) and David Muller (counter-tenor).
Ferny Grove State High School Big Band Ferny Grove State High School Big Band, Conductor – Grantley Sutch. The Ferny Grove High Big Band is one of 18 ensembles in the school’s Instrumental Music program. Its repertoire stretches from the swing era to the 21st century, and features several fine young vocalists who perform everything from swing to ballads to rap. The band has a busy performance schedule that includes concerts at the school, in the community and at corporate and government events. INTERMISSION 8.30pm to 9.00pm ACT TWO 9.00pm to 10.15pm
James Morrison Sextet A New York style jazz band offering original tunes and a contemporary sound, sophisticated jazz is what it’s about. James Morrison is, by anybody’s standard, a virtuoso in the true sense of the word. Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays trombone, euphonium, flugel horn, tuba, saxophones, and piano. VENUE TICKET

You have a chance of winning the best seats at music by the lake seating a maximum of 8 people to view the music by the lake. The lucky winners will enjoy the privacy of the elegant poolside gazebo positioned high above the arena and the stage. This prize also includes a sumptuous three course meal plus wine hosted by your own personal chef and barman on the night, Steve Cowley of Samford Homestead Restaurant. Closing date 9am on Wednesday 18th October, 2006. Wining ticket drawn at 8 Lagoon Court, Samford at 11:30am on Wednesday 18th October 2006. Winner notified by telephone at 12 noon Wednesday 18th October 2006. Promoter: Rotary Club of Samford Valley. If the winners have purchased tickets to Music By The Lake, the tickets will be refunded! * Proceeds go to providing a new bus shelter at Samford and help fund the eradication of Polio from India and Pakistan through the work of Rotary International . FOOD AND BEVERAGE AND GETTING AROUND This is a BYO event. Bring your own basket of food and drinks and enjoy quality music under the stars. Coffee will be available from the mobile Doppios Van and Cafe La Strada Van. Bring your own folding chairs or rugs. The ground is sloping so a small table will need levelling. Mobile unisex toilets are available at the rear of the arena. The private residence is not accessible. Experienced first aid personnel will be in attendance. Wheelchair access is possible but you will need to be early to obtain a level position. CAR PARKING Car Parking is up to 250 metres away from the arena and you are asked to follow the directions of the attendants. Temporary special disability access is available for disembarking at the ticket entry point by asking the parking attendant. Car Park Security Guards are in attendance during the evening. INCLEMENT WEATHER Should inclement weather intervene and if storms are predicted, the show will move to the Samford Showgrounds, Showgrounds Drive, Highvale. This decision is made at 3pm. Traffic Signs will be positioned to redirect you to the Samford Showgrounds. MUSIC BY THE LAKE RAFFLE TICKETS – one for $2 or three for $5 These will be available as you enter the arena. Winner’s names will be displayed on the lakeside screen at the end of the performance.

TALKING DURING THE PERFORMANCE: As at any entertainment venue we ask all patrons to respect the performers and each others comfort zone and refrain from talking during each performance. There is ample opportunity to talk between each performance. Because of the sloping nature of the venue sound carries further.
