Music By The Lake

Janie Shrapnel’s early education included classical piano and in her teenage years, singing/songwriting became her greatest love. At the age of eighteen, Janie signed a recording contract with RCA and released a single entitled “My Everything” as well as a Moody Blues song, “Miracle”. Many years as a professional musician and session singer followed.

In 2000 she released a self-titled CD of her ‘songs from the heart’.

Janie was the recipient of the award for ‘Best Songwriter’ at the 2000 Queensland Recording Association’s Sunnie Awards and in 2001 her self-titled CD was voted ‘Best Contemporary Album’ in Queensland.

She is a member of the Samford Songwriters and regularly performs at The Performers Café in Samford. At present she is working on another CD due for release 2005-2006. In 2005, Janie was chosen from 25,000 hopefuls, as one of the nine finalists in Channel 10’s X Factor Competition. Along with her obvious vocal talents, Janie was chosen for her uniqueness and individuality.

Janie has worked extensively as a live musician as well as being an accomplished recording artist. Janie will be supported by local musicians from the The Performers Café at Samford
